Ut1364 Brown's Park Rd s(u) -1
Brown's Park was named for an
old trapper from the fur trapping period, who
was active in this area. It is known best for
the confluence of the Green and the Yampa and
its surrounding cliffs. One paved road heads
into this area and this is the smaller of two
consecutive summits, approaching Brown's Park
from the west The summit elevation on the
other one is a little bit lower, but includes
the bigger drop down to the park and Green
River. Both are included in the profile.
The picture on this page was
taken on the other summit, showing the road to
this summit.

Approaches
From West. It's a
shallow climb to a shallow saddle. But the
absence of traffic is great. Mostly it consists
of a few cars with empty boat trailers, making
the run to the park to pick up river floaters.
From East. After
a few hundred feet of rolling downhill a rim of
snow appears as backdrop to Clay Basin. Little
Mountain does not look quite as little from
here, and now I understand how I mistook it for
the edge of the Uinta Mountains, the first time
I rode along here.
